Monte Vista won the hit battle 7-3 on Thursday, but couldn’t push enough runs across to get the win, instead losing 8-5 in seven innings to Granada at Granada High.
Lindsay Rood racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Mustangs. Rood singled in the third inning, homered in the fifth inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.
Mackenzie Murphy was a workhorse in the circle for Monte Vista. Murphy pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed no earned runs, three hits and no walks while striking out three.
Monte Vista took a 5-3 lead into the 7th, but couldn’t hold the lead after giving up 5 runs in the bottom of the inning.
