MV Beats Granada in First Game of Livermore Stampede

Lindsay Rood went 3-3 at the plate as Monte Vista beat Granada 5-1 in the first game of the 2015 Livermore Stampede Tournament. Rood homered in the first inning and singled in the second and fourth innings.

Mackenzie Murphy struck out seven hitters en route to the Mustangs win. Murphy allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks over six innings.

The bottom of the first saw Monte Vista take an early lead, 1-0. A solo home run by Rood started the inning off.

The game was never in doubt after the second, as MV scored two runs on a two-run single by Rood.

Monte Vista tacked on another two runs in the fifth. An error scored Kiana Mills, followed up by Danielle Morelan’s single, scoring Jordan Maddox.
