MV Falls to Livermore After 9 Innings

Mackenzie Murphy both hit and pitched well for Monte Vista, but it wasn’t enough as the Mustangs fell to Livermore 3-2 at Robertson Park on Tuesday.

Murphy racked up two RBIs on three hits for MV. She singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.

Murphy was a workhorse in the circle as well. She pitched 8 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks with one strike out.

Monte Vista jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hang on, loosing in extra innings.

In the top of the third, Monte Vista scored what would be their only 2 runs. A single by Murphy, bringing home Tressa Schroth and Lindsay Rood started the inning.

Livermore pushed one run across in the third inning and the fourth inning. Then, a ninth inning rally saw the winning run cross the plate on two errors.
