19 Hits Power MV Over Arroyo 13-3

Monte Vista combined for 19 hits and 13 runs to beat visiting Arroyo 13-3 on Thursday.

Eight runs in the first three innings allowed the Mustangs to put the game away early.
An RBI single by Mackenzie Murphy, a three-run home run by Jordan Maddox, an RBI single by Tressa Schroth, and an RBI single by Lindsay Rood in the first inning, as well as an RBI single by Danielle Morelan during the second inning helped Monte Vista put some runs on the board early.

MV was led by a flawless day at the dish by Rood, who went 5-5 against Arroyo’s pitching; hitting 3 singles, a double and a triple.

Freshman Natalie Parker, also had a great day at the plate with 4 hits.

Murphy recorded the win for Monte Vista. She allowed three runs over six innings. She struck out one, walked none and surrendered six hits.

The Mustangs tacked on another three runs in the fifth. A sacrifice fly scored Rood to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Erin Yoshino’s single, plating Natalie Parker.

Monte Vista increased its lead with two runs in the sixth. A triple by Rood ignited the offense, bringing home Devon Parker. That was followed up by Natalie Parker’s single, plating Rood.
