Lindsay Rood went 2-2, helping Monte Vista to a 4-1 victory over California High on Tuesday at MV.
Rood singled in the third inning and tripled in the fifth inning.
Mackenzie Murphy got the win for the Mustangs thanks to seven strikeouts. Murphy allowed no earned runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings.
MV survived California High’s surge and put up one run of its own in the first. Monte Vista scored on a groundout by Murphy.
The lead stayed with MV after the third, when they scored one run on an RBI single by Natalie Parker.
Monte Vista tacked on another two runs in the fifth. A double by Parker ignited the offense, bringing home Rood.
